My mother (Barbara "Bobbie" McArthur) was a dancer in the original production of "Oklahoma!" on Broadway.

My father (S. Wood McArthur, Jr.) was a jet fighter pilot in the Korean War. During one mission, he and another pilot (John Paladino) performed an in-air rescue that had never been done before, nor has it been done since.

My first paid gig was when I was 14. I made $12 playing at a pool party for somebody. My career as a professional musician was off and running!

My nickname when I was with B.J. Thomas was "Hat" (I always wore one on stage). The reason for the nickname was that his road manager's name was Buck.

My first gig in a night club (also when I was 14) was at the 11-70 Club in Hazen, Arkansas. There was chicken wire in front of the stage. When I asked the keyboard player what it was for, he said, "You'll see." Sure enough, a fight broke out in the first set, and it kept several flying bottles from hitting the band. There were several other fights that night!

Weirdest gig I've ever played: a tie between backing up Tiny Tim in New Orleans in the 70's and backing up Rich Little in the 90's.

My favorite food is: anything cooked on a grill.

I know how to play a jew's harp.

The most famous people who know/knew me personally: Elvis and President Bill Clinton.

I can write forward and backward at the same time.

I can wiggle my ears.
